"Not thinking with portals"

Films: The Fly (1986), The Fly 2 (1989)

Alias: Seth "Brundlefly" Brundle, Martin "Martinfly" Brundle

Type: Mutant

Location: Haunted home/Civilized area

Height/Weight: That of average humans.

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: If you thought that Andre's ill-fated experiment involving teleportation had dire consequences, wait till you see what happens when it all gets the 80's remake treatment. Things are going to get messy, in more ways than one.

History: Seth Brundle was on the verge of a grand scientific discovery. And at this point, you 50s fans know what happens next. A fly gets in the teleportation machine with him. But instead of an instant transformation, Seth finds that his body is slowly changing. He's gained new abilities and strength, but he's losing his old physical appearance and, more importantly, his sanity.

Notable Kills: Martinfly douses one unfortunate guard in acidic spit...and the gory details are NOT spared.

Final Fate: Seth ultimately degenerates into a grotesque human-fly hybrid that his love has to gun down (with his consent). Many years later, his son Martin is screwed over by his adoptive father Anton Bartok when the boy's inherent insect genes take over and turn him into a more capable fly-monster. Thankfully, Martin turns the tables on Anton by having both he and the corrupt CEO enter a telepod together, undoing Martin's mutations and leaving the villain a horrible parody of life.

Powers/Abilities: Increased strength/endurance, acidic spit.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 4-The sheer amount of body horror in motion with both Brundles is staggering, to say the least. Seth has it the worst with how his body just seems to fall apart to reveal a skeletal oozing bug-man. Martin's fly form may be healthier and is much more heroic, but it looks twice as monstrous.

Trivia: -The first film had a deleted scene in which Seth has to kill an ungodly cat-baboon hybrid that the telepods made. It was cut due to it making Seth seem less sympathetic.

-Many people were considered for the role of Martin, including Keanu Reeves, Vincent D'Onofrio, and Josh Brolin.

At least, unlike Reed Richards, he wasn't intoxicated before the experiment. I think

The cartoon never caught on.

The only way to eat fruitcake.

Only this guy got screwed over by The Man.
He was also Jeff Goldblum. There is no greater shame.

That...would have been the sane route.

In a spitting match, nobody spits like-AUUUUUUUUUGH!!!!

Is that a 50s reference?

Damn! That fly must have been packed to the gills with steroids!

"Got your nose...not that you'll have one anyway."

The experiment is back in black.

Next, a human skeleton mixed with a pangolin!

Godwhygodwhygodwhygodwhygodwhygodwhygodwhy...

Family fun!

"Do I look funny to you?! How do I look funny?!"
